New Technology
People often tell us they heard about new, high efficiency solar panels or hydrogen fuel cells, etc. Every year, for the last fifteen years, somebody has announced that they have developed a PV panel that will blow the prices out of the water. But unfortunately, it has always been the marketing department of that company making that claim and not the engineering department. No one has even a prototype of a cheap, efficient solar panel yet. So by the time they have something that's been tested, proven, with a good warranty, a large manufacturing plant, and an efficient supply chain setup, the system that you buy today will have already paid for itself, possible several times over. Twenty years ago, you heard that the future was solar power, and now it’s here. We are now hearing hype about hydrogen fuel cells. You read and hear that hydrogen is so plentiful on earth contained in water form. In ten years, the hydrogen fuel cells may indeed be a viable technology for the residential customer, but for now it is merely a concept for the future. As a matter of fact, the electricity required to extract the hydrogen from the water causes more pollution than if we had run all those vehicles on dirty gasoline fall along!
